About Us
Our Values and Ethos - A message from the Head of School
At Castle Primary School, we are committed to providing the very best education for the children at our school. We believe that learning should be engaging, stimulating, challenging and enjoyable. We are passionate about treating our children as individuals and ensuring that they feel respected and safe whatever they are doing.
There are around 150 children currently at Castle, across five classes. Each class is named after a famous castle from our part of the world. Year 6 are taught in ‘Tintagel’, Year 4/5 in ‘Dunster’, Year 3/4 in ‘Totnes’, Year 1/2 in ‘Corfe’. Our Reception-aged children are taught in their ‘Drogo’ class. We also have a separate ‘Tiny Turrets Nursery’ which provides an exciting place for our preschool children to explore the world around them.
We know that learning environments are hugely important to the way in which children learn, and as such, we are investing heavily in our beautiful Victorian buildings. We want to ensure that they provide bright, modern spaces, filled with innovative new technology, which sit happily alongside the rich historical setting of the village.
The strong sense of community around the school and our hard-working and determined staff, who are eager to keep up-to-date with innovative and exciting teaching techniques, enable us to give the very best to our children. If you would like to find out more about the school, please arrange a visit to us by contacting the school office - we would be delighted to see you.
