A Message from Jeremy Handscomb
Welcome back after half-term. We’ve certainly had a full couple of weeks so far. It was wonderful to be able to welcome Mrs Val Stones back to school for an assembly last week. She told us all about her time on The Great British Bake Off and inspired the children to aim for great things, even if they find some things tough at the moment - what a fantastic message. I look forward to seeing all the baked goods coming in for our competition which Mrs Stones will be judging at the Summer Fayre.
Lots of our children were commended for their fantastic story writing at the Montacute Carnival Writing Prize competition this week. Although there were no placed prizes for our children this year, we are so proud of all their achievements and a big well done to everyone who received their special mention.
Now the weather is (finally) warmer and brighter, it is a delight to be able to open the pool for swimming again. Please see the separate letter about family swimming coming home early next week. Can I also remind parents that we don’t apply suncream to the children so if the children are old enough, they may bring in named suncream and apply it themselves, but an easier solution is to apply ‘once per day’ suncream which can be bought from the chemist.
We are just in the process of finalising classes for next September. Class swap day for the children is Wednesday 5th July, when they will spend the morning in their new classes. Letters will be coming home in the next couple of weeks to explain which class your child will be in and who their teacher will be. Don’t forget that you are all invited to meet Mr Nation in the school hall at 2.30pm on Friday 30th June.
