This term, we’re focusing on the value of ‘tolerance’. We’ve discussed being tolerant of each other, especially when someone does something in a different way to ourselves. In addition, we’ve explored the importance of forgiveness. Please help us reinforce being patient, loving people who tolerate others more. We have welcomed two PCSOs into school who talked to the children about e-safety, supporting the teaching and learning that has taken place in class. Please continue to talk to your children about what they do when online and monitor their use of the internet closely. As you’re all aware, the school has worked hard to improve the children’s attendance this year. I have followed our existing Attendance Policy closely. My aim is to support families so that together, we can improve your child/children’s education. There are clear legal requirements which must be followed. If you have any queries regarding attendance, please do not hesitate to get in touch. Big Rec PE is well underway and the children have been enjoying these sessions on a Tuesday afternoon. Well done to all the teachers and staff who help organise and run this each week. We also have our new playground equipment. So far, the children have played with the new football goals, basketball hoops, ‘quad bounder’, construction sets and frisbee golf. The new Play Leaders have had the responsibility of setting up, assisting play and packing away the equipment. Well done all Play Leaders - great job! What a busy and exciting Spring Term. From Aspiration Day to World Book Day, an Egyptian exhibition to planting a hundred trees, an Easter bonnet parade to snow days, NSPCC Maths fundraising challenges to raising funds for a school in Nepal … the list goes on! Next term, we aim to have the swimming pool in use and further details will follow. I am currently seeking a better, long term option for the children to improve their water confidence and swimming abilities. As wonderful as our school pool is, it is obviously rather small and costly. I am fully aware that many of us use different forms of social media to communicate with friends and family. Unfortunately, I am also aware that some are using this in an inappropriate way. It has been brought to my attention that , in the past, people have written unsuitable messages about staff and children at Castle School. I have seen these messages and dealt with them on an individual basis. Please think before you post anything online and be prepared to discuss what you have written with anyone - everyone can see it! Please also ensure you are keeping your children safe when using different apps and when online. We have heard of a serious incident that occurred via Instagram and I urge you to check the age appropriateness of all apps before allowing your children to use them. We say a final goodbye to Anne Goad who has worked here at Castle for over 20 years— thank you Anne for all you have done. Hayley Robinson who has been with us since 2013, thank you Hayley for your efforts with the children at Castle. And finally, thank you Lesley Whitelock for your hard work at Castle since 2001. You’ll all be missed.  I would like to thank all of the staff for their continued hard work and effort to make Castle the lovely school it is. Thank you to FOCs for all of the wonderful events they have organised this term - what a team! A massive well done to the children for being such superb role models and hard working pupils. Wishing you all a wonderful Easter break with family and friends.  Categories: 1 CategorySchool News
